Turn

“I don’t recall forgetting.”
Said he to me in nighttime rain.
“Such shame I don’t recall this loss
Of beauty I now see so plain.”
Whispered I into his ear,
“Excuse for this; flatter not.”
I kiss and turn straight on my heel,
“Crazy fool, look what you lost.”

Dead Mouse

I almost stepped on you–
Dead Mouse.
Busy Sunny Sidewalk Sir.
Such early in the day
For dead rodent stray
To cross my path
In rigored gore.
I paused to puzzle–
Dead Mouse.
Corpse on Brick in Mortared Seam.
Tongue still pink
Laid on your cheek
Death had past
Just beats before.
Why are you here–
Dead Mouse?
Forgotten Kitty Dinner Treat.
Left alone
On busy street.
Useless death.
I nearly weep.
